| We are all so excited about Sustainable Homes '09. We've spent the summer keeping up to date with the latest in sustainability and reviewing the 2008 participant feedback and survey data to make this year's program even better.
In this year's program Showcasing Sustainable Living will bring to you the stories, with pictures, of local residents who have already taken great steps to make their lives more sustainable. From greywater systems and vegetable growing to insulating and travelling sustainably, these residents are not afraid to tell you the mistakes they made or the secrets to a 3kWh per day electricity bill.
Create a Water Efficient Home and Garden is always a popular event and 2009 should be no different, especially as we all aim to beat the 155 Target! Hear about all the little things you can do which will add up to big savings, as well as information on taking the steps to getting water tanks and a greywater system.
Buying Green and Avoiding Waste are some of the easiest things we can do to really make a difference to the environment, but it's so hard to know where to start and what to look for. Come and find out how powerful your every day decisions can be.
New in 2009 is Sustainable Eating. A hot topic that we know you'll be fascinated by. Discover Food Miles (and wine miles - act global, drink local!), the ethics of what we eat, and what you can do to eat sustainably.
Would you like to Create an Energy Efficient Home? Hear about the latest in lighting technology, how to understand your energy bills and which hot water system is best for you. Be inspired by the stories from local residents who have achieved ridiculously low bills with ease.
Get in early for the incredibly popular Sustainable Gardening. Fantastic presenters with amazing experiences will inspire you to grow your own food, introduce you to the best indigenous plants for your area, and even solve your composting dilemmas. Not to be missed!
At the Sustainable Transport workshop you will discover the magic of electric bicycles, the innovativeness of car share programs, and the best ways to use public transport. You could also WIN a $1000 voucher towards sustainable transport! A really fun, hands -on night.
The Sustainable Homes Tour is amazing! Generous local residents open up their homes and gardens so we can see and hear about what they have done. It's really practical information from people who have tried it out. There's not a more inspiring way to end the program. | |
