Home>Free Sustainability Starter Kits are a Hit!
It has been fantastic to receive feedback from so many of the 2009 participants as to what they’ve been doing with their kit items.
Pictured right is Terry making the most of the basin from his free water kit. He and Robyn collect vegetable and rinse water from the kitchen sink and then use it in the watering can for the garden.
Particularly popular have been the fruit and vegie bags from the Buying Green and Avoiding Waste kits. Karen from Preston has not only gone out and got more for herself, but she has bought some for her mum and for several friends, and they have then passed on the word to their friends!

| Similarly, Meg found herself being asked about the bags by the cashier at the fruit and veg shop she visits, and by the person in the queue behind her.
Meg is a bit of a Sustainable Homes legend, featuring in this week’s Leader because of her family’s low water use – less than 50 litres per person per day! http://preston-leader.whereilive.com.au/news/story/darebin-residents-heed-water-saving-message/
Anthony received a prize of a thermal mug at the Buying Green and Avoiding Waste workshop in Banyule, and has taken it to work so that he doesn’t use disposable cups when he gets a coffee from the nearby café. Not only has he stirred the interest of a few workmates, but the café charges him 50c less for bringing his own mug! | |
| Great work passing on the sustainability word everyone! | | You can have the chance to receive a free Sustainability Starter Kit if you are a resident of Banyule, Darebin or Whittlesea councils and attend one of our Sustainable Homes events.
